INS Tarangini Visits Port Harlingen, Netherlands
INS Tarangini visited Harlingen Port, Netherlands and participated in the Culmination Ceremony for Tall Ships Races 2018. The ship is on a seven-month long voyage with the theme ‘Sailing through Different Oceans and Uniting Nations’, as part of Lokayan-18. Mr Venu Rajamony, Ambassador of India to Netherlands visited the ship and was briefed on aspects of sail training. In addition, the ship was visited by persons of Indian origin, Indian tourists and local dignitaries. Sail Training International officials Mr Sigurd Dale, Chairman and Mr JR Arends, Chairman, Tall Ships Races - Harlingen also visited the ship and complimented the crew for traditional and colourful entry into harbour and for their participation in all the events. The ship’s platoon, consisting of Sea Trainees in uniform, along with the ship’s Bhangra troupe, took part in the Crew Parade Ceremony and enthralled the local population. The ship also participated in the ‘Blessing of the Sails’ ceremony, wherein crew from various ships came together to offer prayers to seek blessings for all seafarers, especially those lost at sea. Commanding Officer INS Tarangini addressed the attendees on behalf of Captains of over 60 ships that participated in the Tall Ships Races 2018 at the Captain’s Dinner.
