INS Tir Conducts Family 'Day at Sea' at Kochi

A ‘Day at sea’ for the Civilian dignitaries and approx 1600 family members of Naval personnel based at Southern Naval Command, Kochi, was conducted on 07 Feb 18. Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command had embarked INS Tir for the day at Sea. The guests were embarked on 10 ships. It was a rare occasion for the guests to witness the daily rigors on board the ships.

INS Tir, the senior ship of the First Training Squadron conducted the activities along with INS Tarangini, the sail training ship, INS Sujata and INS Sunayna offshore patrol vessels; INS Kabra and INS Kalpeni Water-jet fast-attack craft; INS Sarvekshak; INS Jamuna and INS Sutlej, hydrography vessels besides INS Nireekashak, diving tender vessel.

The highlights of day included exercises, viz. simulated attack by Fast Attack Craft, Sail Past by Sail training Ship, Search-and-Rescue demonstration by Chetak helicopters, Sonar dunk demonstration by Sea King Helicopter and Jackstay evolution, including personnel transfer.
